Gov. Mark Sanford, along with the South Carolina Department of Commerce, will host an Unemployment Roundtable Discussion at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, October 20, 2009, in Room 252 of the Edgar Brown Building on the Statehouse grounds in Columbia.
Speakers and expert panelists include: State Senators Greg Ryberg and Joel Lourie; State Representative Kenny Bingham; John Rainey, Chairman of the Board of Economic Advisors; Dr. Rebecca Gunnlaugsson, South Carolina Department of Commerce; John Stephen and Jay Lucas, The Lucas Group; Dr. Barry Russell, President, SC Technical College System; Ted Halley, SC Employment Security Commission; Nita Colman, Worklink (Anderson, Oconee, and Pickens County OneStops); and Dr. Peggy Torrey, Deputy Secretary for Workforce Development, among others.
Topics to be discussed include Employment Security Commission Reform, Workforce Development, and the state’s Unemployment Insurance Deficit – which is nearing $1 billion.
