Early reports are spreading like wildfire on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter, as well as news channels such as FOX and CNN that the terrorist mastermind Osama Bin Laden has been killed.
Osama Bin Laden was the leader of al Qaeda and has been killed by US Forces during a recent airstrike.
Although unconfirmed at this time, the White House is expected to hold a conference late Sunday night.
Long regarded as the most wanted man in the world, Bin Laden has managed to evade U.S. Armed Forces on several fronts since the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center in 2001 in spite of a multi-million dollar bounty on his head.
He is said to be killed in Pakistan sometime last week, with the U.S. maintaining custody of his body.
U.S. President, Barack Obama will be addressing the nation in a soon coming news conference.
As the world waits for the official announcements, we can’t help but think back to that day, almost a decade ago, that rocked the nation and devastated our world.
Although there can be nothing done to bring back all that so many of us have lost, we can only hope that this news, when confirmed, can bring closure to some.
