Online Jobs Company Monster Opens Customer Service Center In South Carolina
Governor Mark Sanford today joined the South Carolina Department of Commerce and local leaders and economic developers in welcoming the online job search engine and industry-leading Monster Worldwide as it officially opened its 75,000 square foot customer service center in Florence County.
“The decision by Monster to put down roots in South Carolina speaks highly not only of our state’s continued efforts to improve business soil conditions, but also this larger notion of encouraging the private sector to innovate and expand in areas where government indeed falls short,” said Gov. Mark Sanford. “As essentially the first and now largest online search engine for jobs worldwide, as well as a home-grown business once based in a small office above a restaurant, Monster is proof positive that the free market works best when entrepreneurial companies find a niche and provide a service people need.
“This announcement is also timely for the way it relates to our state’s current challenges on the unemployment front – and specifically, the growing consensus that real reform at the Employment Security Commission is absolutely essential this coming legislative session.
Monster has a wealth of workforce knowledge and know-how that state agencies, and state government in general, could learn from, and to that end, I’d thank Monster for deciding to expand in our state.
