Governor Bev Perdue announced today that she is extending her jobs tour this week with jobs announcements in Robeson and Surry counties on Tuesday.
These events will bring the total number of new jobs announced on her three-week tour to more than 1,100.
“Nearly all of my time as Governor is spent creating jobs in North Carolina,” Gov. Perdue said. “Our focus on jobs, on strengthening education and on setting government straight is paying off across the state as companies move here or expand.”
Since taking office, Gov. Perdue has met head-on the challenges of the worst recession since the Great Depression. S
he has revved up the state’s job creation engine by, among other steps, protecting the state’s investments in education and worker training to build and sustain an educated, skilled workforce.
During the first two weeks of her jobs tour, the Governor announced more than 300 new jobs at stops from Yadkin County to Halifax County.
She has called on the General Assembly to set aside narrower interests and focus on what the people of North Carolina want and need: more jobs and a stronger education.
She has reminded her fellow North Carolinians that those missions go hand-in-hand to secure the future of the state.
