Governor Sean Parnell is asking for nominations for the annual Governor’s North Star Awards for International Excellence, which will be presented on May 4 to honor successes in exports, investments and exchanges.

“Each year we have an opportunity to honor the businesses, nonprofits, and educational and scientific exchange programs that are strengthening our economy and bringing the world to our doorstep,” Governor Parnell said.

Alaskan businesses, schools and organizations that improve the state’s quality of life through their international endeavors may nominate themselves or others in several categories:

  • export of goods
  • export of services

  • travel
  • transportation
  • cultural exchange
  • humanitarian exchange or scientific exchange
