Strathclyde Pension Fund, managed by the Council, has won two accolades in a leading awards competition.

It picked up awards for Public Sector Scheme of the Year and Premier Scheme of the Year in the prestigious Pension Scheme of the Year Awards 2009. It was the second year in a row the fund picked up the Premier Scheme award.

The judges rewarded Strathclyde Pension Fund for focusing on key issues for members. They said the fund stood out for consistency of service and innovation.

A spokesman for the judges said: “Congratulations to the Strathclyde Pension Fund for scooping two of this year’s awards. This is a real testament to the hard work of the scheme and means that pension fund members can be proud of their retirement savings vehicle.”

Bailie James McNally, chair of the fund, said: “It’s great to know that we continue to provide members across Strathclyde with the high level of service they deserve. I’m delighted for the whole team that their excellent work has yet again been recognised, not once but twice, with such prestigious awards.”

Strathclyde Pension Fund was founded in 1974 by Strathclyde Regional Council and transferred to Glasgow City Council in 1996.

The Council administers the fund on behalf of 12 local authorities and more than 200 other public sector employers.
