New High Court Judge Appointed

The Queen has been pleased to approve the appointment of Geoffrey Charles Vos, Esq., Q.C., to be a Justice of the High Court with effect from 27 October 2009 on the retirement of Mr. Justice Blackburne.

The Lord Chief Justice will assign Mr. Vos to the Chancery Division.

Mr. Vos, 54, was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1977 and took Silk in 1993. He was appointed a Judge of the Courts of Appeal of Jersey and Guernsey in 2005 and is approved to sit as a deputy High Court Judge.

Mr. Justice [William Anthony] Blackburne was called to the Bar by the Inner Temple in 1966 and took Silk in 1984. He was appointed a Judge of the Chancery Division of the High Court in 1993 and Vice-Chancellor of the County Palatine of Lancaster from 1998 to 2002.
