Whether you pay in person, over the phone or online, from 1 September 2009 there will be a 1.3% handling fee for payments made by credit card (this does not apply to payments for parking fines).
This fee covers the charges we have to pay to the card issuers, which at the moment costs council taxpayers around £80,000 a year. Other local authorities have found this to be a good way to make sure the costs of handling credit card payments are fairly distributed to those who pay this way.
Pay by direct debit
Instead of using your credit card, why not take the hassle out of making payments and set up a direct debit?
Telephone the number on your bill to find out more, or pay by standing order. If you would like to pay this way, give the following details to your bank, making sure that you quote the relevant account number on your bill.
Our bank is HSBC, High Street, Hounslow, our account number is 40545155 and our sort code is 40-25-02.
