The Land Transport Authority (LTA) will be opening the new up-ramp to West Coast Highway viaduct at Telok Blangah Road between Wishart Road and Seah Im Road from 11am, Friday, 6 November 2009.

This opening will allow LTA to close the existing up-ramp to West Coast Highway viaduct to facilitate its conversion to a down-ramp. The new down-ramp is expected to complete by January 2010.

When works to reconfigure the two ramps are completed, west-bound traffic from Keppel Road heading towards Henderson Road can go up onto the West Coast Highway Viaduct, without having to go through the busy junctions along Telok Blangah Road at Kampong Bahru Road and Sentosa Gateway.

Similarly, traffic heading eastwards towards the city can make use of the new up-ramp to enter the viaduct, without having to contribute to traffic on the Telok Blangah Road.

The reconfiguration of the ramps is part of the overall improvement works to the road system in the Sentosa-HarbourFront area to cope with the anticipated growth in traffic with the opening of the Resorts World at Sentosa in early 2010 as well as future developments in the HarbourFront and Keppel Bay areas.

The improvement works are expected to improve traffic capacity of the road network in this area by about 30% and will ensure that the road network in the vicinity of the Sentosa- HarbourFront precinct, which includes Telok Blangah Road and Kampong Bahru Road, have the capacity to cope with the anticipated increase in traffic volume.
Directional and information signs will be placed in advance to alert and guide all road users on the day of the opening.

Please refer to Annex A for the location plan of the new up-ramp to West Coast Highway viaduct.
