AVA is lifting the suspension of N & N Agriculture Farm with immediate effect.
The eggs produced now are safe for consumption and can be sold to retailers and food manufacturers.
On 17 Jul 2010, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) suspended the farm from selling their eggs and taking any birds or eggs out of the farm following detection of antibiotic residues in eggs produced by the farm.
During the period of suspension, AVA has been closely monitoring the residue situation through laboratory tests on feed, water and eggs produced.
The farm has been cleared of the residue problem and has complied with AVA’s requirements.
AVA will continue to work with the farm for compliance with good animal husbandry practices and food safety requirements.
On 17 July 2010, following routine surveillance tests on local poultry farms, the Agri-Food and Veterinary Authority (AVA) found residues of an antibiotic (doxycycline) in eggs produced by a local farm, N & N Agriculture Farm.
As the presence of doxycycline in eggs is a food safety issue, AVA has immediately suspended N & N Agriculture Farm from selling their eggs and taking any birds or eggs out of the farm.
All eggs produced on the farm are currently detained, and will be destroyed under AVA’s supervision.
