Singapore Launches Online Distance Fares Calculator

Commuters can go online to check their fares before Distance Fares kicks in from 3 July onwards.

From 16 June, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) will launch the new Distance Fares Calculator on the PublicTransport@SG portal to help commuters calculate their exact fares.

Use the calculator here: www.publictransport.sg/distancefare

With fares shown against each journey option, commuters can then choose one that best suits their transport needs.

As announced in April this year, the introduction of Distance Fares from 3 July will bring about a more integrated fare structure where fares are calculated on the total distance traveled in a single journey.

Commuters do not pay more if they choose to make transfers during that journey.

Today, journeys with transfers cost more as commuters need to pay a transfer penalty.

As the land transport network expands, commuters will have greater flexibility in their travel choices, and if these choices involve transfers, they will not have to pay more.

To help commuters be more familiar with the new calculator as well as Distance Fares, LTA will launch a series of roadshows at selected bus interchanges and MRT stations with high commuter traffic.

At these road shows, staff will be on-hand to guide the public on how to calculate their fares with the new Distance Fares Calculator as well as address any questions that the public may have on Distance Fares.

“Distance Fares will benefit all public transport commuters, giving them more choices and greater flexibility in their travel choices.

The roadshows is one of many platforms to reach out and educate the public on Distance Fares,” said Acting Chief Executive, Mr Lim Bok Ngam.
