On behalf of the Government of Canada, I am pleased to congratulate the athletes, coaches, artists, families, organizers and volunteers who contributed to the success of this year’s Arctic Winter Games.
Our Government takes pride in contributing to events like the Arctic Winter Games, as they promote lasting legacies for sport and culture. The community of Grande Prairie, Alberta, the North, as well as all the participants, will benefit from these Games.
Sport and culture are key pillars of Canadian society. The 2010 Arctic Winter Games provided our northern athletes and cultural participants with an opportunity to forge important new ties as they took part in this unique athletic and cultural exchange.
As Minister of State (Sport), I would like to commend the athletes on their skill and dedication. You are role models for all of us. We witnessed your commitment to excellence, and you have inspired us to join you on our own journey to Dream, Achieve and Inspire.
I look forward to an equally exciting Arctic Winter Games in 2012 in Whitehorse.
