Australia’s most successful exporters were honoured at a National Awards Ceremony, hosted by the Minister for Trade Simon Crean at Parliament House in Canberra.
Congratulating the 12 National Winners, Minister Crean said that collectively, these companies have generated more than $1.5 billion in export earnings and employed more than 2,400 people.
“All of these companies have demonstrated perseverance and innovation in successfully seeking new markets overseas and sustaining their export sales through what has been a challenging year for the global economy,” Mr Crean said.
The National Winners include a manufacturer of precision components for military aircraft, a Victorian games developer that created one the highest selling iPhone games, Flight Control, and the creator of trendsetting men’s swimwear and underwear.
“This year’s winners, selected from 77 finalists, are outstanding examples of companies that are committed to exporting. They all met the judges’ stringent criteria of sound risk management policies and a strong export marketing strategy.”
The Australian Export Awards, now in its 47th year, are one of the most prestigious business awards and play a vital role, not only in recognising export success, but by helping build Australia’s brand, both here and overseas.
“As a Government, we continue to strive for economic prosperity by focusing on trade and economic policy issues.”
Also honoured at the Ceremony was Queensland manufacturer, Russell Mineral Equipment which, as a three-time National Winner, was inducted into the Australian Export Awards Hall of Fame.
One of the National Winners, NOJA Power Switchgear was selected for the ultimate exporting accolade, the Prime Minister’s Australian Exporter of the Year.
The Australian Export Awards are co-presented by Austrade and the Australian Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
