Business and Non-Government Organisation (NGO) Roundtables are held at the Parliament House.

The Business Roundtable brings together leaders from across the economic sector including the mining, transport, manufacturing, energy, retail and finance sectors.

The NGO Roundtable includes leaders from across the community sector including unions, social services, environment groups and local government.

The NGO Roundtable continues our engagement with the community on the Government’s climate change policies.

The Roundtables are serving as a forum to discuss the future of our economy along with how as a community we respond to climate change, protect the most vulnerable people, support jobs growth and preserve our natural environment.

It will further focus on how we reduce carbon emissions in a way that delivers sustainable growth, maximises productivity and supports jobs across the nation.

It is well recognised that we must tackle climate change in order to support long term investment and competitiveness, and the Roundtables provides a forum for open and frank discussions about how this can best be delivered.

The Roundtables will discuss a range of issues which will also be a focus for consideration at the Multi-Party Climate Change Committee.

This will help ensure that Government representatives on the Committee have an accurate and current understanding of the business and NGO perspective on issues.

The Roundtables are expected to meet regularly until the end of 2011.
